RYA Shorebased Courses
During the Winter months while the weather is less clement, we take full advantage of the downtime in offering a number of shorebased courses (some of them through outside partners).
Practical courses include:
RYA First Aid which can be used by instructors and general members alike
RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance to help prevent breakdowns while afloat
RYA Marine Radio (SRC) - are you aware that if you have a VHF radio onboard your boat, or carry a handheld VHF whilst out on the water, you need to hold an operator's licence. It only takes a day to get your Marine Radio certificate
We also offer the following theory courses:
RYA Day Skipper Theory runs over a number of evening and weekends and provides a comprehensive introduction for new skippers to navigation and seamanship.
RYA Safe and Fun - an online course predominantly aimed at our members leading training, coaching, or looking after children or vulnerable adults, but open to all.
** New **
Essential Navigation and Seamanship course - runs over two full days - spread over 2 Saturdays - in-house, and provides a comprehensive introduction to navigation and seamanship.
RYA Day skipper and Yacht Master Coastal & Offshore (Shorebased) - Runs over several weeks, is online and classroom based.
